Service Overview
Kitchen Refits —
The Brief, In Plain English.
What It Is
Full kitchen refit service — survey, strip-out and skip-away, first-fix plumbing and electrics, plaster and tiling prep, cabinet install, worktop template and fit (laminate, quartz, granite, solid wood), appliance install, splashback or tile install, gas safety, electrical test and certify, snag and handover. We work with kitchens supplied by any major retailer or independent kitchen designer.
Who It's For
Homeowners across the Northwest replacing tired, dated or non-functional kitchens. Landlords refurbing buy-to-lets between tenants. Anyone who's bought a kitchen from Howdens, Wren or Magnet and needs a single accountable installer to fit it properly without the supplier's recommended-fitter lottery.
When You Need It
Kitchens get planned 8–12 weeks ahead of install — supplier lead times alone are usually 4–6 weeks. Book the survey as soon as you've shortlisted suppliers and we'll programme around supplier lead times so site is ready the day the cabinets land.
Why It Matters
The kitchen is the most-used room in the house and the room buyers walk into first. A properly fitted kitchen adds resale value, makes daily life easier and looks right for a decade-plus. A poorly fitted one costs you twice — once to put in and once to rip out.
What Happens If You Wait
The Cost Of
Doing Nothing.
Most kitchen install problems trace to the same root cause: a supplier passing the install to a 'recommended fitter' who only fits cabinets, with separate trades for plumbing, electrics, tiling and plaster — and nobody coordinating them. Programme slips, snags multiply, and the final fit-out drags on for weeks longer than promised.
Risks Of Ignoring It
- →Worktops templated before cabinets are level — visible gap at the splashback line.
- →Plumbing roughed-in to the wrong cabinet position — boxing-in retrofitted to hide the mistake.
- →Electrics installed without a Part P certified electrician — invalidates buildings insurance, fails on sale.
- →Hob extraction ducted to the wall and stopped — recirculating greasy air, condensation in the void.
- →Tiles laid on un-flat plaster — lippage, visible level changes, fails inspection on every grout line.
Common Mistakes Customers Make
- ×Letting the supplier subcontract install to whoever's cheapest that week — no continuity, no accountability.
- ×Choosing the kitchen without measuring the actual room — discovering on delivery day that the larder won't fit.
- ×Skipping worktop template stage — discovering at fitting that the run is 8mm out of square.
- ×Buying integrated appliances and discovering they need a specific cabinet that the kitchen company forgot to add.
- ×Letting flooring go in before the kitchen — first cabinet scratch and the floor needs replacing too.

Why It's Worth It
What You
Actually Get.
One Lead, All Trades Coordinated
Ryan owns the programme. Plumber, electrician, plasterer, tiler — all booked, all sequenced, all accountable to one site lead.
Any Supplier — Properly Fitted
Howdens, Wren, Magnet, B&Q, Wickes, Symphony, DIY-store or independent — we'll fit any kitchen to a standard the supplier's own fitters rarely match.
Part P Electrics, Gas-Safe Plumbing
All electrical works Part P certified; all gas works by Gas Safe registered engineer. Certificates handed over on completion.
Levelled Cabinets Before Template
Cabinets installed and levelled before worktop template — eliminates the splashback gap that plagues rushed installs.
Dust-Controlled Strip-Out
Plastic sheeting to the kitchen opening, daily skip removal, vacuum cleaner running where dust is generated. The rest of the house stays liveable.
Programme You Can Plan Around
Typical kitchen install: 10–14 working days. We give you start, MEP-done, install-done and handover dates in writing — and we hit them.
In Detail
Kitchen Refits.
Materials, methods and the situations each variation applies to — so you know what you're buying before you buy it.
Strip-Out, Disposal & First-Fix
Old kitchen disconnected (gas isolated by Gas Safe engineer, electrics isolated by Part P electrician), cabinets and worktops stripped, appliances removed for resale or disposal as you choose. Skip on the drive or grab-lorry for kerb-side removal. First-fix plumbing and electrics roughed-in to new cabinet positions, plaster patched and dried before cabinets land.
Cabinet Install — All Major Suppliers
We fit kitchens from Howdens, Wren, Magnet, Symphony, B&Q, Wickes, Benchmarx, DIY Kitchens, Kitchen Stori, Second Nature and most independent kitchen designers. Cabinets levelled to ±1mm across the run, scribed to wall and ceiling where appropriate, end panels finished cleanly — no visible carcass edges. Soft-close hinges and drawer runners adjusted per door.
Worktops — Laminate, Quartz, Granite, Solid Wood
Laminate worktops cut and fitted on site (Bushboard, Egger, Formica). Quartz, granite and solid surface worktops templated on installed cabinets, fabricated off-site (Silestone, Caesarstone, Compac, Cosentino), delivered and fitted as a single trade-coordinated visit. Solid wood worktops oiled in situ and re-oiled at 6 months as a free aftercare visit.
Appliances — Gas, Electric & Integrated
Gas hob installation by Gas Safe registered engineer with certificate on completion. Induction and ceramic hobs hardwired or plugged-in per appliance spec. Integrated fridges, dishwashers and ovens installed to manufacturer template. Hob extractors ducted to outside wall as standard (never recirculating) — proper carbon-filter routing where external ducting isn't possible. AEG, Bosch, Neff, Miele, Siemens — all major brands.
Tiling, Splashbacks & Finishing Trades
Splashback tiling in ceramic, porcelain, marble or glass — laid on flat, level plaster, grouted in colour-matched silicone-modified grout. Glass splashbacks templated and fitted as standalone trade. Painted finish to surrounding walls completed before snag walk. Floor tiling, vinyl or LVT install offered as part of the package or to your separate flooring supplier's programme.

Ask Yours
How much does a kitchen refit cost in Liverpool?
+
Install labour and trades typically run £4,500–£8,500 for a standard 8–12 cabinet kitchen, excluding the cost of the kitchen itself, appliances and worktops. Bigger or more complex layouts (islands, larders, structural alterations) £8,500–£15,000. Itemised quote in writing within 5 working days of survey.
How long does a kitchen install take?
+
Standard kitchen install runs 10–14 working days from strip-out to handover; larger or more complex jobs 14–20 days. Worktop template usually day 5–7, worktop fit usually day 9–11. Programme written into every quote.
Will you fit a kitchen from Howdens / Wren / B&Q?
+
Yes — we fit kitchens from any UK supplier, independent or DIY-store. Howdens, Wren, Magnet, Symphony, Benchmarx, B&Q, Wickes, DIY Kitchens and all major independents. We're not tied to any supplier — we fit what you've chosen.
Can I stay in the house during the install?
+
Yes — most clients do. Plan for 3–5 days without a working kitchen (between old strip-out and new sink connection); we'll set up a temporary kettle / microwave point elsewhere if needed. Dust is controlled with plastic sheeting and daily skip removal.
Do you handle the electrics and gas?
+
Yes — all electrical works completed by our Part P certified electrician with a Minor Works or full Installation Certificate on completion. All gas works (hob install, gas hob disconnection) by Gas Safe registered engineer with certificate on completion.
What about worktops — laminate, quartz or granite?
+
All three plus solid wood and ceramic. Laminate is cut and fitted by us on site. Quartz and granite are templated by the stone fabricator on our installed cabinets, fabricated off-site, delivered and fitted as a coordinated trade visit. Programme accounts for the 7–10 day fabrication window.
What guarantee do you offer?
+
Ryan will return to fix any workmanship issue within 5 years of the install. Cabinet, appliance and worktop manufacturer warranties run separately per product. Part P electrical certificate and Gas Safe certificate are statutory documents. RG Loft Conversions & Extensions Ltd carries full public liability insurance.
Do you cover my area?
